The Trading Partner Resource Network (TPRN) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that serves as a conduit between fair-trade consumers and small scale coffee farmer communities. Founder and President Tripp Pomeroy is the CEO and a co-owner of Café Campesino & Sweetwater Organic Coffee and is passionate about and deeply committed to fair trade and supporting small-scale coffee farmer cooperatives.

As a project that was born out of Cafe Campesino, naturally Lowthian Design Works was happy to set up and train Tripp how to keep the site up to date.

Koinonia Farm was our first client. When it was time to upgrade their online shopping site we recommended Bigcommerce. After migrating the data from their existing 3dCart platform, we customized the site to match their unique community. The new site offers some great features they couldn’t offer before. We will be working in the coming months to assist with Google Adwords, and to integrate their WordPress site with the new Bigcommerce WordPress plugin.

Big thanks go to Katie Litzell for her great work on the images and copy for the site.

The mission of Sowega victims is to advocate for victims of crime in the Southwestern Judicial Circuit, identifying and recommending resources, providing direct services and providing public education in order to facilitate a nurturing, healthy, and safe community.

The site, built in WordPress employs a theme concentrating the important information all on the front page. The site however also includes a system for registering for trainings and events, and has a floating “Escape this site” button for the security of it’s clients and a donation system.

MarcheCréole is an initiative of  the Heritage Foundation for Arts and Cultural Sustainability, a 501(C)(3) organization at ArtEgg Studios. The Foundation is dedicated to increasing understanding and awareness about all of the arts and its contributions to cultural heritage.

Lowthian Design Works set up a WordPress site using a very unique theme with some customization. The site also has market member page logins and a calendar of events.

RUBARB (Rusted up beyond all recognition Bikes) is an all volunteer run space, which means no bosses, no workers and no pay. They all participate in making the space, tools and parts organized and accessible, and any money that is received goes toward tools and parts and all other basic needs of the shop. Their primary goal is to provide adequate tools and competent help to meet the needs of those who desire to build and repair bikes. RUBARB is an educational space where we all can share and learn from each other’s skills and experiences.

We met up with RUBARB while in New Orleans. While they were trying to recover and rebuild bikes, we wanted them to have a great web presence to help them find volunteers and funding. The site is built in Joomla with a custom template designed by Lowthian Design Works. We have also helped them with training and obtaining free website hosting as a non-profit.

UPDATE: Site completely reworked October 2017

Programa Velasco’s mission is to educate and empower children and families to
create social change in El Salvador. They do this through three programs:

  • CHILDREN’S SCHOLARSHIPS
  • FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
  • WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

We have  been working with Programa Velasco since 2010. We migrated their site from a blogspot site to it’s own domain where we installed Joomla. We have offered training and support for their staff and volunteers. In 2015 we launched their current site which is fully responsive (displays properly in all devices). We have also helped them with donation collection, assist them with social networking, their email newsletter as well as some on-site tech support.

Koinonia Farm was founded in 1942 as a “demonstration plot for the kingdom of God.” This meant a community of believers sharing their lives and resources, following the example of the first Christian communities as described in the Acts of the Apostles. Residents, interns and visitors on the farm are invited “to serve a period of apprenticeship in developing community life on the teachings and principles of Jesus.”

Koinonia Farm was the first website designed by Lowthian Design Works. It has gone through 4 major revisions to it’s current WordPress site. We have also helped Koinonia with training and e-newsletter support as well as on-site tech support. We helped them obtain free website hosting for being non-profit.

Visit their site at the link below, you can also find a donate link there to support their great work!

Girls Rock New Orleans is dedicated to building self-confidence in girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth through music education. Our programs foster creative expression, collaboration, and social consciousness, while providing tools to be active participants in their own communities.

Lowthian Design Works did not do any of the original design work, however we migrated a Ruby on Rails website to a Responsive WordPress site. The original site, though well designed, was difficult to update, always having to go through the designer. Now on WordPress, anyone in the organization can log on and make edits to the site. We also moved hosting so they could get free non-profit hosting.
